Renee Gaither completed her degree in art at Georgia State University in 1985. She became an art educator in the Dekalb County School System.  She taught elementary, middle and high school. Renee retired in 2014 from Dekalb County School District after completing her career at Tucker High School. Prior to retirement, and because of her passion and devotion to art, Renee had the honor of being selected as Teacher of the Year in 1998 (Stephenson Middle School) and 2005 (Tucker High School). Renee was also an active member of the Georgia/National Art Education Association (GAEA) and Alpha Delta Kappa, International Honorary Sorority for Women Educators (ADK). For both organizations, Renee held board and committee positions. After retirement, and because of her passion and devotion to art, she worked part-time at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. Renee also volunteered as an art teacher at the Kilombo Academic and Cultural Institute in Decatur, Georgia.

I am asking for your support to continue Renee’s legacy. A foundation has been set up by Kilombo in memory of Renee’s passion for art and teaching. The collage above is by Renee’s students. Invest in Renee Gaither’s dream, tax deductible.

Thank you!
